Slow & Low

Killer cooking, messy wine logic, and an overall pricey vibe

Slow & Low is modern Barcelona cooking with the volume turned up: open-kitchen intensity, contemporary technique, and a seafood-leaning menu that likes acid, heat, and big, clean flavors. It’s not nostalgic or “market cuisine.” It’s sharper than that—designed to surprise, built around momentum, and (when it lands) genuinely exciting.

The frustration is that the experience doesn’t fully align. The wine list feels oddly disconnected from the food, like it’s curated to be quirky rather than to make pairing intuitive. You can still drink well, but it takes more effort than it should in a place cooking at this level. And yes: the pricing is simply high across the board. Not just a couple of bottles—everything. That premium feel might work if the whole package snapped into place, but as it stands, you leave thinking: great kitchen, uneven cohesion, expensive night
