La Mundana
Comfort bistronomy that needs a lighter hand
La Mundana sits in modern Barcelona bistronomy: Mediterranean small plates, a few global touches, and that casual “order a bunch and share” rhythm. The room is lively, the cooking is generally competent, and we do eat well here—there’s enough technique and product to keep the meal on track.
Our main issue is heaviness. Too many dishes feel loaded with oil, and it blunts flavors that could otherwise be sharper and more defined. A little refinement—less fat, more precision—would lift the whole menu. The second issue is originality: the proposition feels familiar, built from the same playbook as many other places in the city, so it doesn’t leave much of a signature.
On the wine side, it’s serviceable but unexciting. We can drink, but we’re not really inspired, and the pairing energy doesn’t match the food’s ambitions.
In the end: good for a casual meal, not a place we’d chase for ideas or bottles
