Garage Bar
Natural-wine flag planted, food plays backup, prices do the talking
Garage Bar wears its identity loud and proud: this is a natural-wine-first place, from the way the list is framed to the way the room moves. If we’re already in that mood—cloudy bottles, edgy profiles, a bit of chaos—there’s plenty to explore and it can be a fun night.
But the commitment can feel a little totalizing. Sometimes it reads less like “we love good wine” and more like “we are the natural wine idea,” and that can narrow the experience—especially when not every glass feels worth defending with ideology. The food doesn’t really balance it out: it’s fine, serviceable, and mostly there to keep us drinking, but it rarely becomes a reason to come back on its own.
The other friction is value. Prices feel elevated for what’s essentially a wine-bar meal, and that makes the whole thing harder to embrace casually. We’ll still go when we want that specific scene—but we don’t go expecting generosity
