Direkte
High-end modern Mediterranean, best enjoyed at the bar
Direkte practices modern, chef-driven Mediterranean cooking: seasonal product, sharp technique, and plates that feel precise rather than showy. It’s the kind of kitchen that builds flavor through clarity—clean sauces, exact points, and combinations that make sense on the tongue, not just on the menu.
We ate at the bar, which is the best seat for understanding what they do. You’re close to the action, you feel the rhythm of the kitchen, and the meal lands with that satisfying sense of control: a team that knows exactly where it’s going and doesn’t waste motion getting there. The cooking has real level—confident, focused, and consistently impressive.
The only friction for us was the wine service. It can lean a bit too formal, almost ceremonial, which introduces distance in a place that otherwise invites pleasure. At the bar, we wanted the wine to feel more conversational: guided with warmth, not presented like a lesson.
Still, the headline stands. Direkte is a great restaurant—one we’d happily recommend, and happily return to.
