Casa Alfonso
Traditional comfort, simple cooking — and a wine list that lets it down
Casa Alfonso is a classic casa de comidas: straightforward, traditional food built for everyday dining. The cooking is simple and well done—no tricks, no big statements, just familiar dishes that arrive hot, properly seasoned, and satisfying. It’s not trying to be a “great restaurant,” and that’s fine. This is the kind of place we can drop into on a random day, eat without thinking too much, and leave comfortably fed.
The weak point is the wine. The list feels like an afterthought and, frankly, a mess—more filler than choices, without the care that the kitchen brings to the plate. It’s a shame, because a modest casa de comidas can still pour intelligently, and that would lift the whole experience.
As it stands, Casa Alfonso works for what it is: honest, unfussy, dependable. We just wouldn’t come here expecting to drink especially well
