Prime location, handsome room, utterly senseless concept. We went back to Vertical a few months after its opening in the hope that time might have brought a little clarity, a little substance, perhaps even a reason to care. It had not. The result was the same.

This is a wine bar built for Instagram, not for drinkers. Style without conviction, aesthetics without depth, and very little to suggest that the people behind it understand what makes a place worth returning to beyond the first photo.

It will probably be our last visit.
