Bodega Bonay
Bodega Bonay: A Handsome Room That Refuses to Make a Scene
Bodega Bonay is the sort of place you recommend when you want to avoid both disappointment and commitment. The room is genuinely pretty—well-lit, thoughtfully decorated, the kind of Barcelona chic that photographs nicely without feeling like a set. The menu follows suit: broad, appealing, and built for easy pleasure, with enough range to satisfy a table that can’t agree on anything.
The wine list is good in the practical sense—plenty to choose from, sensibly priced, and clearly assembled with approachability in mind. And yet it also feels slightly buttoned-up, leaning a bit too hard into “safe” and “economical” references. You wish it would loosen the collar, take a few more risks, and give you a couple of bottles that surprise you.
Service is friendly and warm; the food is consistently solid; you eat well and drink well. Nothing quite lingers in the memory, but nothing nags at it either. A place with no dramatic pros or cons—just a reliable night out at a correct price.
