Pepa occupies a converted bookshop, and the bones of the old room do half the hosting — teak, shelves, the particular hush of a space designed for browsing. Ona Liarte cooks, Camila Espinoza runs the wine, and the list is where the house has planted its flag: natural and organic bottles with a clear preference for Catalan growers, broad enough to travel when it wants to, chosen by someone with a position rather than a distributor. Service is attentive without hovering, the housekeeping is among the best we've seen in this category, and the place works equally well booked a week ahead or walked into on a whim. That reliability is Pepa's real asset and the reason we keep listing it. The food is the honest caveat. The plates are competent and pleasant — a beef tartare with mushrooms and tequila, a scallop risotto, cold cuts and conservas, a decent balance of vegetables and meat — and almost never the reason anyone walks in. Supporting cast rather than star, as we put it last year, and the casting hasn't changed. Come for the bottles and the room. Order enough food to keep the evening upright, and no more.

A solid wine-bar hang, even if the food isn’t the headline
Pepa Bar a Vins is a good-looking, easy-going wine bar that gets the fundamentals right: pleasant room, friendly service, and a vibe that works for an unplanned glass that turns into a night. It’s the kind of place we can recommend without overthinking it—reliable, comfortable, and generally well run.
Food isn’t the main argument. The plates do their job, but they rarely feel like the reason to come; more supporting cast than star. Still, everything lands in the “fine” zone, and that’s often enough when what we really want is a steady bar with good energy.
Where Pepa earns its place is consistency. We’re not chasing fireworks here. We’re coming for a solid wine-bar option in a nice setting, with people who treat us well. And for that, it’s a safe bet
